About Us

Dr. Ajay Sharma is a senior gastrointestinal surgeon based in Jaipur with extensive experience in managing complex surgical conditions using modern procedures. He is known for his calm approach, clear communication, and strong focus for patient safety and ethical medical care.

He completed his schooling at St. Xavier’s School, Jaipur, and pursued his MBBS from SMS Medical College, Jaipur. He later completed his MS in General Surgery from Bikaner and went on to earn his MCh in Gastrointestinal Surgery from SGPGI, Lucknow, one of India’s most respected centres for advanced surgical training. 

During this period, Dr. Sharma received a prestigious award from the Japanese Surgical Society. It supported him further for specialised training in Japan and helped strengthen his exposure to advanced surgical practices.

After completing his MCh, Dr. Sharma had opportunities to work with leading gastrointestinal surgery centres in India and abroad. However, at that time, Rajasthan had very limited access to specialised GI surgeons. With the intention of contributing to healthcare in his home state, he chose to return and work towards improving the availability of advanced gastrointestinal surgical care.

In 2012, Dr. Sharma joined SMS Hospital as an Assistant Professor and is currently serving as an Associate Professor. Along with his academic responsibilities, he remains actively involved in clinical practice. When government hospitals did not have a dedicated gastro surgery department, he initially worked in the private sector. Later, when the Government of Rajasthan planned to establish a gastro surgery department, he made a conscious decision to join SMS Hospital, due to his long-term vision of serving public healthcare.
